A Busy Start to the Year
January has remained exceptionally active for our Local. Our members are working across the province, including Yorkton, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, multiple uranium sites in the North, Aspen Power Station, and the Foran Mine. Your commitment and resilience, especially in the cold, continue to move our projects forward with excellence and professionalism.
Thank You to Our Travelling Members
A sincere thank you goes out to the Travel Members supporting us from Locals 2038 and 2085. The collaboration between our three Locals has never been stronger. Efforts to harmonize training and policies are making travel smoother and strengthening our collective capacity.
Growing Our Membership
Our Local continues to welcome new members, and it’s essential that we mentor them in what it truly means to be part of the IBEW. This is more than a job, it’s a movement toward better futures for all. Saskatchewan’s outlook is promising, and we must continue developing the next generation of leaders and supervisors.
We have also attracted new contractors, opening additional opportunities for our membership. With more work on the horizon, building and supporting our growing workforce remains a priority.
Upcoming and Ongoing Work
These projects will keep our members engaged and provide strong employment opportunities in the months ahead.
Industry Engagement & Training Initiatives
This month included participation in a Labour Law Conference in Regina, focusing on construction certification cases and grievance-related issues. We also met with Cenovus in Lloydminster to strengthen our relationship ahead of upcoming shutdown work.
Additionally, we are exploring an exciting opportunity to become a sole training provider for a nuclear‑ready workforce which is an initiative of significant potential for the IBEW.
